Subject: rad party review To: mo-raves@nicar.org Date: Sat, 1 Feb 1997 12:49:50 -0600 (CST) From: "roger kumar" [snip] Anyway, last night there was a pretty cool house party in Rolla...at Sarah's house...without turntables! Jayme Taylor from Milwakee and Xjn both played live, though, and it was pretty incredible. The party was in a little house filled to capacity with a lot of Rolla people, most of them getting drunk. But all of Xjn's and Jaymes gear was crammed in, there were synths, sequencers, drum machines, + mixers _everywhere_.. The setup looked quite impressive. Jayme and Xjn did mostly seperate sets with a little jamming in between. Jayme played live house first, and although I'm not a big house fan, the set was extremely well done and everyone got into the music. Xjn kicked in with some harder, more acidic, more trancy stuff that I really loved.. he used mostly his new synths and I think it was one of the better Xjn sets... everyone loved that too :).. After a short break Jayme came on again, with some less housey-more trancy stuff he wrote the night before, again, it sounded great (yeah, the music was excellent last night, so I'm going to keep saying "it sounded great" over and over..) Anyway, finally Xjn came on last, ending his set with some live drum programming that was amazing to watch as well as listen to.. There was a keg at the party so tons of people were there, and tons more were outside.. some people never actually made it inside so when Jayme started carrying out all his stuff some lamer asked "there were instruments in there?" :) Many props to Jayme for comming and playing and bringing a sound system.. -- pJou_| pgp fone and mail accepted rkumar@umr.edu rkumar@lbl.gov _l C9 C7 77 76 B3 C3 1A 1E 30 32 81 67 89 E6 9D 3B
