Subject: sat. party review To: mo-raves@nicar.org Date: Mon, 24 Mar 1997 12:02:05 -0600 (CST) From: "roger kumar" James Taylor (the guy from Milwaukee down for a while) threw a party in Waynesville Saturday night. The space was cool, a really big warehousey-type space. Even though there were _tons_ of people there, I don't think the space got more than half-filled. Anyway, James and Xjn played both played live sets, each consisting of new songs that sounded particularly nice on the loud sound system. (lots of moniors too!!:) Jenny did vocals for one of Jayme's songs, it was pretty amazing. On the hip hop side of things, DJPJ spun and did all these fancy tricks and stuff, pretty cool. Another hip hop dj from waynezville spun, but i forgot his name. There was also a bunch of guys rapping over a dat, i didn't get their names either. And there was some other guy doing live stuff, but we got there after he had played, i think his name was 'pure'. I spun housey stuff (gasp!) and then it closed up with a hiphop battle thingy, with pj and two other hiphop djs (i suck at names) taking turns doing tricks. I couldn't believe how many people were there. There were a lot of gangsters and a lot of couples, but on the front lines there were a bunch of happy kids going wild. Who were these kids?? They looked like ravers. They danced like ravers. This must have been one of those mo-raves.
