The final results are in, and though there were a few unpleasantries, I hope everyone is in agreement that the party was pretty cool. Lots of people showed up to help get everything set up and kickin, and I'm sure anyone who was at Equinox will agree that the set up made Good Time Country seem alot different. Thanks again to everyone who helped out. I would have collapsed with exhaustion if it hadn't been for the crew. While it was a bit chilly in the ambient tent, I am glad that I let everyone talk me into keeping it an open air space. The sound in the main room could have been better, but I guess we should have expected that (it was no sweatshop!). But the back room was thumpin and hot and crowded, which is exactly how we wanted it to be!! We did lose some money, which is unfortunate. I guess what we've learned from this is that the max amount of people you can plan on having at a Hohumbia party is around 600. Connect drew in more out of towners than Equinox, I'm guessing due to Feelgood and the increased investement in flyers. But these factors also upped the budget, and thus the admission price. I think the local Columbians were reluctant to pay $8/$10 for a party with no kegs, etc. The decline in local attendance was balanced by increased out of town attendance, but we had planned on all the regulars plus more out of towners. Personally, I would rather throw a party that would cater more to local Columbians, since they are the ones that show up for house parties and generally support local djs. The other bad news is that some equipment was stolen from behind the curtain that was on the stage. A 9002 Zoom pedal, and a Nady wireless remote were stolen. Apparently the thief was familiar with the equipment becuase he searched around and found the power supplies and stole them as well. Probably a guitarist or bassist. If anyone hears anything (which is doubtful, I admit!) let us know, becuase as it is now, we are bound by the contract we signed to replace the stuff. This obviously increases the total debt! Personally, I had a great time at the party, and it wasn't until the next day when all this monetary bullshit came into the light that the almost perfect evening was spoiled. I hope everyone that came had fun as well! as far as the next party...I'm not certain that it will be hosted by me and wally, but hopefully someone will make sure that it happens. I will say that at the Orb on Sunday, we ran into a bunch of people who were talking about Connect and wanting to give us their numbers for the next party, blah, blah, blah. At least it appears that Columbia has a respectable standing concerning the interest in events such as these. Since we didn't make the money we had hoped, we weren't able to fully express our appreciation to all the local djs and everyone who made this thing happen. So, I just wanted to let everyone know that you are definitely appreciated. No particular dj was more important than the next, we just happened to be locked in to paying Feelgood. That's about it.... missy
