My coworker just came in and he told me that he just heard on the radio that the World Trade Center in NYC was just bombed... Rather two twin engine planes ran into the buildings...? Any information on this?

My hands are shaking...I'm extremely scared. Everyone in my office building
is freaking out.
My company was contracted to do cableing in the World Trade Center. The
life of one of our employees, and a friend of mine, was saved due to the
fact that he was late to his 9 am meeting on the 88th floor. However, many
people we are subcontracting *were* on time.
This is a day to truly be remembered. God bless the lives of those already
lost.

it's truly insane here...either complete quiet - or sirens - or an eerie
attack helicopter thing...
the streets have no cars and very few people. almost no stores or offices
or buildings or anything is open...
my apartment is on Horatio and Washington if you feel like looking at a
map...it's in the southern half, but not south enough to truly be
affected. We took a roll of film from the roof deck yesterday - which we
should get back tomorrow and another roll from standing down on the border
of where they'd let peopole stand (Canal street at the time) and the smog
and debris and insanity and strange eerie quiet....
there was no troffic and there were no people even in the very center of
Soho...I didn't know where I was at the time and until I saw Canal Jean
Company's huge flag I had no idea I was in what was normally one of the
most busiest places in the city.
The elections were cancelled for now, the bridges and tunnels and subways
and busses are all stopped...almost no taxis and the ones that are here
aren't running. The stock market is closed for today and
tomorrow...thousands of people evacuated from their apartments...gas
turned off in numerous buildings and the possibility water will be
unusable for awhile...
and now - from the roof deck...every important landmark building appears
to be gone as no lights are lit on the Empire or Chrystler...or World
Trade Centers...of course....the city, most of it, looks rather dark.

I was woken up by my next door neighbor in Centreville, VA...30 min outside
the city, to find that all this had happened. I was up just as everything
happened, and i don't know how long i was sitting in the same position in
awe, but it was a while. I watched live as both the 1st and 2nd Trade Center
towers fell and I couldn't help but think to myself "someone somewhere is
laughing at us."
My nextdoor neighbor's husband works at the Pentagon, and she cannot leave
her phone in fear that she will miss something important about his status. I
can't tell you how much i feel for her and for everyone who knows someone
that works in a federal building anywhere in DC or NY, not to mention the
country.
This is very real. By noon tomorrow, we will be at war. It's inevitable,
and i for one am scared...George Bush Sr., i hope you know what you are doing.
This day will go down in history, i feel, as the day that North America came
to the dark realization that we are not safe. This may just have been the
"warning shot".

of transportation to work and scool.
I do not believe in suicide bombings or such rash attacks, I believe a
college degree is the best weapon of choice. But considering the conditions
of Palestinians and the lack of support, it shows a despairing and chilling
view of showing how far they are willing to go. It shows they have nothing
to live for under those conditions. I and many others do not support violent
so do not group us together as one stereotype. Most Palestinians that come
over are already educated and skilled in vocation.
So zero, or whoever you think you are, you don't know much. Unless you've
lived in or visited the region please save all the drama.

ok. He called after midnight. He couldn't get a line
out to call until then. Thankfully, like the guy in
the NY Raves post, he was running late and was not yey
at work when it happened. He lives in Park Slope
Brooklyn, he said that the neighborhood was covered in
ash, and that there were actually singed papers
littering the streets.
For any of you still waiting to hear on friends and
family in either NY or in the Pentagon, I hope with

I got downtown around 8:30
Working quite near Wtc
COuple min after gettin upstairs, I looked out the window to see some smoke,
thought it was some fire the fireman would end up putting out.
Later on the lil cloud got big and started going with the wind, some lady
came and told us that a plane crashed. We ran to see the news then quickly
went on the roof.
What I saw after that, I will never forget. Huge holes in both
building,
people jumping out, ny'ers all around on rooftops, in their windows, looking
out, crying and holding eachother. WIth the buildings falling I went into
shock and started crying on my knees. We were let go from work cause of this
disaster. Walking through the bridge with thousands of people, all lost,
confused and dazed. Not knowing what has happened, looking back to see what
once was a skyline, with jets flying in the sky watching over us. I am still
shaking to this moment. I'll never be the same again."
