Personality
My Types
One great thing about having more than one favorite system of
personality typology is that it helps me avoid believing that people
`are' their types. In general, I find such systems of great value,
both in self-understanding and in appreciating the truly
alien mind-sets that other people can have and in not taking a lot of
things so personally.
I'm hoping to look into the types of traditional Chinese medicine
soon.
You can find online tests for both these in the tests directory.
- MBTI: XNTX
- I've found my E/I and J/P to be rather unstable over the years.
This fits in well with David Keirsey's abstraction of four
temperaments over the 16 MBTI types. NT is the `Promethean'
temperament.
- Enneagram: 4
- I used to think I was a 1 (with 4 as the runner up), perhaps in
part because the person who introduced me to the Enneagram suggested
that I might be. My self-identification as a 4 coincided with my
becoming an active raver. It also coincided with my moving out of the secure situations that typified my earlier life (4s are supposed to tend toward 1 under conditions of security).
