Eileen is now out of recovery, and in our post-partum room, where
we'll spend the next few days. She's awake and finally seeing her new
baby, but also relaxing after 31 hours of labor culminating in major
surgery.
There were a lot of babies being born at St. Peter's that day, and it
was only dumb luck that we were able to get a private room. St. Peter's
doesn't charge extra for them over the cost of a semi-private room;
they give them out as they become available.
Had we been stuck in a semi, there would have been no guarantee that
either Brian or I would have been able to stay with Eileen overnight,
since either would have needed our roommate's approval, and rightly
so.
