A Stroll Through Chinatown

Because of discriminatory housing practices in the 19th century most Chinese immigrants to the United States were confined to certain neighborhoods, which became known as "Chinatowns."
The San Francisco Chinatown is the second largest population of Chinese Americans in the United States after New York. Considered exotic to many visitors of San Francisco, it is a major tourist attraction, and is still the cultural center of the Chinese-American community in San Francisco.
