well, i guess i might as well throw my hat in the ring too.
i'm 23, 5'10, brown and blue
hair, Mex-Am, graduated from Stanford in
Computer Systems, and live SOMA in SF in a cozy warehouse. i've been on
sfr
since day 1, whenever that was, i can't remember anymore. some of you may
remember me from then, when i wasn't the lurker i am now, as
rave@leland.stanford.edu.
i started doing the club
scene in Seattle in 87 and can remember the
first time i heard about raves. it was in some brittish music mag special
on
the acid-house scene there (called 88: Summer of Love, i think). as soon
as i
read that artical that i knew ihad to find a rave, which was a much harder
thing then.
i finally found my first rave
in the summer of 91 in some small
warehouse in LA, but it wasn't till the following fall when i discovered
ToonTowns that i really *understood* what they could be. Woopie Ball of
that
year was definitely one of my most memorable and shaping experiences. since
then i would include numerous FMR's, Boogie Buffets, and Burning Man.
for the first year of raving
i lived and breathed raves, and even went
so far to start a now defunct rave clothing/necklace Co. back when the
only
things around were Fresh Jive and DoNotEat.
after too many nights and days
spent in dark clubs, i have to admit i
grew cynical about the scene. now-a-days, i prefer to save myself for small
house parties or the occaisional *special* event that you know will go
off.
i've learned to balance my raving time with things such as snowboarding,
art,
etc, etc. Currently my roomate and I are working on a series of large
silkscreens to wheat-paste around town on billboards, etc, so if you see
a
strange image looming over the freeway, it could be us...
peace and respect to all
