Nope; it's Norman Feller, German artist specializing in tech-house and
trance stuff. He's also recorded as Watchman, Bash Brothers, Lectric
Cargo, Wax Scientists, and possibly his most famous alias (at least these
days) -- Terry Lee Brown Jr.

I highly rate all his works in addition to "The Big Deal"... if you like
that sort of stuff. Which I do. :)

Take care,
- Chris Purity

Hi, I'm one of them there arseholes. My name on Discogs is
dj_purity_control and I've been a mod for just under one year on there.

Well, it's kind of hard to tell whether or not that was a valid NO-vote
seeing as how the picture is missing from the link you provided; however,
going by the comments that delysid and Escapist left, it sounds like the
picture was taken with a digicam, and not straightened.

For example, imagine this:
|
Is a side view of the record, and this:
[]
Is the camera you're taking the picture with.

Ideally, what you want to do is take the picture at a dead on angle, like
such:

| <-----[]

Presumably, from what it sounds like happened here, the photo you took was
more like this:

\ <-----[]

Which ends up distorting the label text / pictures / whatever.

So, that being said, once you have a picture of the label from a dead on
angle, you'll want to open it up with an image editor, and crop out the
dead black areas from around the label. A picture that looks like [ o]
isn't what they're after, they usually want something looking more like
[O] instead.

Finally, resize it to 600x600 pixels, and save it as a JPG. The file size
can be up to 300kb (I know the upload script says 100kb, but it's just
been changed over the past week).

Follow those steps and you should have no problem getting pictures
accepted.

Give me a shout if you want me to check any of them for you sometime.

Thanks,
- Chris Purity

Well, again, without seeing the ones that you had submitted I really can't
say whether that's true or not. I was just attempting to give a helping
hand to avoid future rejections.

If that wasn't the case, then frankly I'm at a complete loss as to why
they would be rejected, and would recommend resubmitting them to clear up
why.

And as far as the "crap ones" that have been accepted, part of that is
because of the following reasons;

1) You can attach a picture when you create a new submission. If the
submission itself is correct, most mods will vote it in even if the
picture's a bit poo.

2) The guidelines for pictures have been changing over time. It used to
be the maximum size was 300x300x64k with no minimum, and then it got
bumped up to 600x600x100k, and then the minimum size was added to be
150x150. And as I mentioned before, the maximum just got bumped up again
to 600x600x300k. So as you can see there may be loads of pictures that
would have been accepted under the old guidelines, but probably wouldn't
be today.

Aw, that's not cool. Frankly I appreciate ANYTHING that anyone attempts
to submit to help the database grow, nothing's ever perfect and we can
only help it get that way if everyone pitches in.

Hell, when I started off on that site I was getting rejections left and
right, but it took me a little bit of time to figure out why they were and
what I needed to do in order to get them accepted.

Please don't turn your back on it mate; give it another shot. I tell you,
probably the biggest thing you can do to ensure your submission gets
accepted is to use the moderator notes field. Just type a few words to
the mods and let them know what's up. For example, with that one that got
rejected earlier, possibly something like this:

"Adding a picture of the center label. There is no picture on this item
as of yet. I know it's not perfect, but it's the best I can get for now."

More than likely those same mods that NO-voted it earlier would probably
YES-vote it instead.

Again, if you need any help (and this goes for ANYONE on this mailing
list) don't hesitate to get in touch with me -- I'm here for you guys.

Take care,
- Chris Purity

Yes, it's almost time for some monkey magic.... oooo oooo OOOOO!

GUTTER MONKEY!!
Friday 17th February
20:30 - 03:00

@ The Asylum [nr TCR Tube]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------=
-------

See http://www.massdestruction.co.uk/guttermonkey
for flyer, further details and map!

The venue is pretty hush hush... you'll need to head down the stairs =
opposite the Marquis of Granby pub. Knock on the door and all will be =
revealed! It's a den of sin in there I tell you!

Oh, there's a fantastic line-up, crazy visuals and lots of booze! Maybe =
bananas too.

Feel free to forward this e-mail and see you on the 17th!!!

GUTTER MONKEY - The devolution of mankind!

PS If you haven't got web access, reply to this mail and I'll forward =
you the map and flyer images.=20

I'm a moderator on Discogs too, but was wondering why I was getting a
letter????

I don't really look at pictures that much, and mainly focus on the older
house/techno/rave-y submissions

becoming a moderator at discogs isn't dependant on ranking. At least it
wasn't when I became one. Being knowledgeable, helping out people in the forums
with questions, submitting reasonable updates/updating the DB, those will be
things that will single you out to the moderators/editors.

OK, so to download a video to keep from www.youtube.com, for example:
some SL2:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=sl2&search_type=search_videos

or Altern-8:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=altern8&search_type=search_videos

or 808 State:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=808+state&search_type=search_videos

or Stevie Hyper D:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=Stevie+Hyper+d&search_type=search_videos&search=Search

or Fantazia:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=fantazia&search_type=search_videos

etc. etc.

Go here:
http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
and put the YouTube url in to download.

then, read this:
http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t259578.html
to convert the flv to mpeg or whatever.

It's slightly long-winded, but if you find a good vid could be handy.

OK, so to download a video to keep from www.youtube.com, for example:=20
  some SL2:
  =
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=3Dsl2&search_type=3Dsearch_videos

  or Altern-8:
  =
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=3Daltern8&search_type=3Dsearch_vide=
os

  or 808 State:
  =
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=3D808+state&search_type=3Dsearch_vi=
deos

  or Stevie Hyper D:
  =
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=3DStevie+Hyper+d&search_type=3Dsear=
ch_videos&search=3DSearch

  or Fantazia:
  =
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=3Dfantazia&search_type=3Dsearch_vid=
eos

  etc. etc.

  Go here:
  http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
and put the YouTube url in to download.

  then, read this:
  http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t259578.html
to convert the flv to mpeg or whatever.

It's slightly long-winded, but if you find a good vid could be handy.

It's from Time Bandits...

Evil: When I have the map, I will be free, and the world will be
different, because I have understanding.=20

Henchman: Uh, understanding of what, Master?=20

Evil: Digital watches. And soon I shall have understanding of video

them, I shall have understanding of computers. And when I have
