Subject: (oldschool) Another big batch of quality tunes on eBay

Hi everyone,

I've got another big batch of tunes up right now, some seriously heavy
stuff as well... loads of old Moving Shadow, Formation, Liquid Wax,
etcetera. The link to these is:
http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZdjQ5fpurityQ5fcontrol

All my auctions I end up putting sound clips up, but I think
I've come to the conclusion, who wants to be clicking on every single
auction to find out whether or not there's a tune you like?

So I got the idea to put all the sound clips together as a playlist file;
just load it up into your media player (I've tested it with both Winamp
and Windows Media Player, anything that handles M3U should be able to take
care of it). This way they all still stay streaming off the website, but
now all you gotta do is track through the tunes. You can even start at the
very beginning and let them play in the background. You can cut and paste
the URL into your program, which is:
http://www.niceboots.com/~devilman/2005-06-29_batch.m3u

Subject: (oldschool) Subject: Another big batch of quality tunes on eBay / evilbay

Hi Chris

I am also going through a clearout on evilbay at the moment and you put me
to shame
with your listings. I am a cut n paste from discogs warrior and I find even
thats a hassle - specially when the site's been so slow/down recently.

How much extra does all the picture scans and audio clips cost and how long
does that all take? I use Turbo Lister but it still takes sometime listing
up a load of tunes.

For ref I sold one II one the other day for 6quid not incl postage from Oz.

Good luck with evilbay though....its moderately exciting in the last 5
minutes of auctions....I had a record with 15 watchers which did not sell
the other day. Miserable bastards. Not for the first time
well priced quality did not sell and over priced crap did (well imo).

rant over, my working day is finished and pub beckons.

cheers
Andrew

Didn't realise you were also in Australia Andy..

However I feel your frustration, I've listed some great tunes here on
OzBay and had 7 people watching them and no bids, whereas some crap
commercial tune ends up going for $40.

I'm going to list on UK eBay, may get less than I want for some of these
tunes, but its better to get one bid than none.

Well for the most part I cut and paste from them as well, but frame it
around a custom form. The program I use is AuctionTamer; I think it's a
subscription based model now but I got in on it a few years back and
purchased a lifetime license, so I get free upgrades until whenever. It's
a rather nice program and manages to handle all I need it to.

Picture scans, most part I take them from Discogs (most of which I scanned
for the site anyhow)... adding them costs 13 pence I think, I'm not 100%
sure on all the fees. Audio clips cost nothing extra because I just link
to them in the listing, eBay hasn't put anything up for hosting those yet.

I know the feeling... in fact I think that "watchers" column on my eBay is
one of the most gutwrenching additions they could possibly put there, as
you've got how many people watching but none of them can be bothered to
bid? Ah well... keeping my fingers crossed for hope and luck here. If no
one takes them on eBay then back off to GEMM they go in a month's time,
land of the impulse buy. Hopefully that's not the case as I could really
use the money _nowish_. hehe

Once again -- auctions are at:

At the moment it's back up and running, tho the server that hosts all the
images still needs to be repaired... they're shooting for sometime this
week to get it back up to full functionality.

Aye that's true, but they still charge you for the gallery thumbnails if
you want those displayed rather than just the little camera icon.

> on another note if ya charging 5 pounds for carriage,
> u would at least expect next day delivery if not same day delivery
>
> i dunno sum ppl

Not charging 5 pounds, 4 pounds + 1 for each additional, but I think
there's some leeway there as I'm located in the States and that's how much
shipping overseas comes to. One record usually costs either $7.55 or
$8.70 to ship to the UK from here, which means if it's a heavy tune
(literally), I lose a few pennies on postage.

Anyhow that's my excuse -- I know some twats in the UK charge 5 pounds
domestic shipping and 10 pounds international so it's understandable when
they don't get bids period.

Take care,
- Chris Purity

Cheers Chris (really missing discogs incidentally) and co for your feedback.

Sent: 05 July 2005 07:23:17
Didn't realise you were also in Australia Andy..

Yup I moved to Melbourne a year ago from Malaysia....I miss the cheap pills
and girls but the smoke is
better here. Drop me a line...especially if your in VIC (money your not).

I am not sure re listing in Evilbay UK or Ozbay.......I have tried both with
mixed results. Most of the
decent value tunes I have sold went to France, Holland & Germany ahead of UK
peeps. What is it with the French and
gabba/reallyviolenticantdancetothisbolloxcore anyway? I also felt guilty
when 2 UK peeps bought one record not realising where I was...their fault
but still.

I am currently umming and arring about giving the USA one a stab but I will
probably stick with Ozbay. One thing I am now conscious of is listing tunes
at acceptable times for peeps in USA and Europe.....which is about midnight
Oz time. Another thing I learnt recently is the not quite so free relisting
fees. I have put back my plans to retire with my ill gotten ebay gains.

pub beckons and its sodding dark outside already....Oz land of the Sun? My
feckin arse!

cheers

Andrew

Subject: Re: (oldschool) absolutely wicked

DJ eXtreme, God bless him, has now got mp3's of some the Randall Yaman
tapes up.

I especially commend "Randall - Yaman Studio Mix 3 [RAN03]" and "Randall
- Yaman Studio Mix 1 [RAN01]" - these are two tapes that me and my mates
absolutely rinsed during our first year at university (1992-93). In
fact I think one of my mates had them on constant auto-reverse for about
6 months each!

They were like nothing I'd ever heard before and absolutely blew me away
- I guess they were the tapes that first got me into hardcore. Before
that I'd been more into more rave/trance stuff, crusty techno and Sasha
tapes (this was more the scene in Cardiff at the time - it took meeting
a Londoner to get me into Hardcore).

Needless to say the tapes have been lost/stolen/worn out at some point
over the last 12 years, and listening to them again now has really
brought the memories (mostly of being completely twisted and losing it
;o) flooding back.

Anyway, absolutely wicked mixes - check them out:
http://www.hardscore.com/yaman.htm#randall

Big up the eXtreme - your efforts are much appreciated!

Cheers now,
Kev.

MASSIVE DISCLAIMER: When I say I was into "trance stuff" we're *NOT*
talking your awful trance-techno. I mean stuff like Age of Love,
Stella, etc. Back then "trance" wasn't a dirty word.

P.S. Just got an e-mail from my mate who I sent the links to... some of
the references are a bit obscure but his excitement at hearing the tape
again is palpable, and quite funny:

 > OH MY GOD!
 >
 > I downloaded THE Randall tape from the intrastellerwebportal last
night and listened to it on the way to work this morning. I was off me box

 > I remember the exact point where I lost it round And's that night,
that little sample where the dude is saying, In the madness I see all
colours, flashing, I can't wait for tonight, or something, then just a
little further along side A just as the Moon and Stars comes in, me and
Tones where sitting looking out my window in M Block, watching the snow
(we thought it was snowing anyway) and I said to the big guy, it's
happening again, and it was!

yesterday
