70 North 6th Street=20
between Kent and Wythe=20
Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211
718 782-5188

>From Manhattan by Subway - Take the L train (catch it along 14th Street =
in the City) to Bedford Ave. (1st stop in Brooklyn). You'll be on =
Bedford Avenue and North 7 Street, walk one block to N. 6th, make a =
right and walk 2 1/2 blocks down to #70. We're between Wythe Avenue and =
Kent Avenue.=20
Or take the JMZ to Marcy Ave. Walk two blocks west (toward the river) on =
Broadway, to Bedford Ave. Catch the B61 bus on the corner and take it to =
N7 (approximately 5 minute ride).

>From the rest of Brooklyn! - Take the G train to the Metropolitan / =
Lorimer stop, transfer to the L train in the direction of Manhattan, go =
one stop to Bedford Avenue. Once out of the subway you'll be on Bedford =
Avenue and North 7 Street, walk one block to N. 6th, make a right and =
walk 2 1/2 blocks down to #70. We're between Wythe Avenue and Kent =
Avenue.=20

>From Manhattan by Car - Take the outer right hand lane across the =
Williamsburg Bridge, get off at the first exit (Broadway) and curve =
around to the right 180 degrees until you're heading back toward the =
river on Broadway. At Bedford Avenue, the 2nd stoplight, make a right. =
Go under the bridge (you'll be in the south streets) and continue on to =
North 6th street (about 10 blocks). At North 6 Street make a left and =
we're 2 1/2 blocks down, on the left at #70. We're between Wythe Avenue =
and Kent Avenue.=20
Once you're off the bridge the streets are all small streets with slow, =
neighborhood traffic. So you'll have lots of time to see street signs =
and make decisions.

>From the BQE (West) - Take the Metropolitan Avenue exit. At the bottom =
of the exit you'll be at a set of lights. Continue straight ahead to the =
next set of lights. At those lights take a sharp right onto N. 6th. =
We're 6 blocks down at #70, between Wythe and Kent on the left.

>From the BQE (East) - Take the Metropolitan Avenue exit. At the end of =
the exit, which is the 1st stoplight, turn left onto Metropolitan =
Avenue. Drive on Metropolitan for 5 blocks to Bedford Avenue. Turn right =
onto Bedford Avenue. At North 6 Street make a left and continue for 2 /2 =
blocks to #70. We're between Wythe Avenue and Kent Avenue on the left.

He smoked weed with DJ Soul Slinger and yet he thought his life was bad? I guess it was all downhill from there.

  I feel sorry for him. Suicide is the worst thing you could ever do.

I feel terrible hearing about someone committing suicide.

As the public service announcement: if you're contemplating suicide,
find some help, and lay off *all* off the drugs until you've got your
head straight. By all, I mean weed and alcohol too, guys. :-/

Subject: [ne-raves] Philly Scene?

Hey ravers,

    I just joined this listserve a few days ago. I've been living in
Philadelphia for the last few years and haven't found much of an
electronic music scene except for the Gaian Mind trance parties at
Ulana's twice a month. Is there any more techno/trance in Philly?

Peace,
Ari

611 is still open. And there are still quite a few techno happenings. But
as far as trance, I don't know of anything anywhere where it still is
played. But that's more a reflection of my tastes than actual events.
Either the City Paper or Philly Weekly (can't remember which) has a weekly
guide to music events that lists types of music being played.

Hey ravers,

    I just joined this listserve a few days ago. I've been living in
Philadelphia for the last few years and haven't found much of an
electronic music scene except for the Gaian Mind trance parties at
Ulana's twice a month. Is there any more techno/trance in Philly?

Peace,
Ari

same spot at, what, 52nd & Lancaster? I remember.... well, let's just say I
don't remember anything, and we'll leave it at that.

it's been a while, but the demo is rock solid.

http://demo.flstudio.com/

you still can't make any scenes with it, but you can make any kind of
music.it's got a lot better midi support (multiple midi inputs), multitrack
recording and some other shit.

check it out. it's a nice program.

DIRECTIONS

Avenue.=20

We're between Wythe Avenue and Kent Avenue on the left.

the Secret Night is DB's monthly soulful DnB party in NYC. it has a SICK,
SICK underground vibe. really sweet venue with a "fraggle rock" chill-out
room (www.musicislove.net). arguably the BEST sound system in NYC as well.

Subject: [ne-raves] [MetroMo] Court ruling on cabaret laws (in NYC)

Hello dancers of New York,

Many of you have already heard today's news. People have been
expressing themselves by boogying, shimmying, and shaking for years,
but the NYS Court of appeals just ruled that the cabaret laws do not
deny us freedom of expression. Attorneys Paul Chevigny and Norman
Siegel are considering an appeal, and we'll be there in full support
if/when that happens.

You can learn more about the ruling via NY1, NYTimes, Associated
Press, or even the front page of the NY Metro -
http://ny.metro.us/metro/local/article/Clear_the_dance_floor/7124.html.

We're continuing to try to introduce a viable reform measure through
City Council, and as always, we need your help in two major ways:

1) Write letters to city council members - We hear that each member
tends to pay attention to any letter that they receive more than 2 or
3 times. We have a sample letter at http://metromo.org/node/22.

2) Ask your friends to join the Metropolis in Motion e-mail list - So
that we can meet with council members' offices and say that "X number
of New Yorkers on our mailing list want to change these laws."

More to come - including updates to our website to include press &
photos from our last event.

Yours in motion,
Metropolis in Motion

Up Close and Personal with special UK guest!

ADAM F (Breakbeat Kaos Recs., Adamf.com, Kiss FM, UK)=20
Exclusive  Camouflage Debut Appearance!

Adam F. was born in Liverpool and raised in the center of the burgeoning=20
local Merseyside music scene of the 70s. The British multi-hyphenate has bu=
ilt a=20
stellar, transcontinental reputation as an award-winning, genre-crossing=20
artist, music producer, film composer, international star dj, record label=20=
owner=20
and industry spokesperson.     =20

A self-taught musician, Adam is an accomplished pianist and guitarist. His=
=20
unstoppable music career began in the early 90s. He cites jazz-fusion and=20
the 80s British electronica that was the foundation of MTV, as his main=20
influences. MTV soon aired several of his music videos. Adam=E2=80=99s pra=
ised debut=20
"Colours" featured the Top 20 singles =E2=80=9CCircles=E2=80=9D and =E2=80=
=9CMusic  In My Mind=E2=80=9D and earned=20
him a British MOBO=E2=84=A2 (Music of Black Origin) Award for Best Album (M=
OBO=E2=84=A2 is=20
England's equivalent to an American Grammy=E2=84=A2).
=20
After an 18-month tour with a live band in support of his soon to be =20
RIAA-certified Gold record, he was enlisted to demonstrate his turntable ski=
lls  at=20
major music festivals and top nightclubs around the globe. He is featured=
in=20
the legendary documentary of the seminal DJ collective, the Metalheadz. =20
Adam exploded into the mysterious stratosphere of high-paid, high-profile=20
international superstar DJs, appearing on magazine covers television and ra=
dio=20
shows worldwide, including his own Saturday night mix show on London's KISS=
=20
100FM.=20
=20
His versatility led to Adam working with artists from David Bowie to Missy =20
Elliott and The Pet Shop to Destiny=E2=80=99s Child. His urban soundtrack "=
KAOS:  The=20
Anti-Acoustic Warfare=E2=80=9D (EMI/UK) saw Adam producing hip hop stalwarts=
De La =20
Soul, LL Cool J, Beenie Man, M.O.P., Redman, etc. for whom Adam composed and=

scored music for a 70 piece orchestra and 64 member choir to create the anth=
emic=20
hit =E2=80=9CSmash Sumthin'=E2=80=9D (also featured in EA Games "Def Jam Ve=
ndetta"). The =20
collaboration with LL resulted in the #1 Billboard-charted single =E2=80=9CT=
he G.O.A.T.=20
(Greatest of All Time)=E2=80=9D. The song served as the title single from L=
L's=20
eponymous multi-platinum release which went on to ultimately become the rap=
per's=20
first #1 album. It also appeared on Adam=E2=80=99s album. Tim Westwood ast=
ounded=20
listeners by rewinding and replaying the song an unprecedented 5 times in h=
is=20
Radio One mix show. Filled with cinematic, testosterone driven beats and da=
ring=20
live instrumentation and despite its ill fated released date of 9/11, criti=
cs=20
worldwide applauded "KAOS". In addition to a #1 Billboard Platinum Album,=20
Adam=E2=80=99s  achievements include 4 RIAA-certified Gold discs, 11 UK Top=20=
40 Singles,=20
#1 Drum & Bass single, NME Top 5 Producer and #1 UK Hip Hop Producer.
=20
Adam also composes music for film. His credits include =E2=80=9CAli G Inda=
house=E2=80=9D=20
(FilmFour/ Studio Canal/ Working Title). He also created a full orchestral=20
score for WWF/WCW Champion Wrestling. Adam owns his own music publishing=20
company and is up for election to the Board of Directors of the PRS/MCPS Mu=
sic=20
Society in London.
=20
Adam co-founded and co-owns 2 successful companies; Breakbeat KAOS-an indie=20=
=20
record label with each release landing on the UK's Top 20 and DogsonAcid.com=
, =20
the Internet=E2=80=99s most trafficked electronic music website (as many as=20=
40=20

Adam has finally fulfilled his longtime dream of forming a rock band; he is=
=20
singer/songwriter/front man/producer of the UK rock band Malpractice=20
(www.malpracticeuk.com). The band will tour this summer, playin=
g at major=20
music festivals in the UK. Several of the band=E2=80=99s songs will be fea=
tured in=20
upcoming U.S. films and network television shows.=20
=20
Recently, Adam produced =E2=80=9CRush The Security=E2=80=9D, the lead single=

Subject: [ne-raves] Girl(s) Talk about Disco D and mashups

Was sad that Disco D took a dive off this mortal coil but Girl Talk seem to have
taken his sentiment and attitude and combined it with the hipness of the mashup.
Now I confess to being out of the inner circles of hipness and Girl Talk is old
news but I've just discovered them and they make me laugh. Not everyone can
successfully mashup Madonna and the theme from Facts of Life. It's a very
schizophrenic mix of metal, indie rock, raunchy rap and yacht rock. Definitely
satisfies my short attention span and genre hopping tendencies of late.

I've been a huge fan of girl talk for a little while now (late spring/early
summer of last year) and his shows are at the very least as fun as any i've
ever been too (most raves included). One guy, a laptop, hundreds of
samples, a wav editor and a calculator. Oh, and the crowd as part of the
show. Check out clips on youtube.

I might actually like "Unstoppable" better than his new cd "Night Ripper",
but "Secret Diary", his first, is seriously fun too. Although on a much
more experimental, glitch sort of kick.
