Massive Audio & EDMS are proud to announce:
EIDOLON 3

April 22nd 2006 at Beardslee Castle in Little Falls, NY
It started in 2003. The formula was simple. Take the best DJs & Bands
in Upstate New York and put them on the grounds of a REAL haunted
castle and let everyone camp on the grounds for the night. EIDOLON
has become the best Upstate New York music festival featuring bands
and DJs. Last year almost 1,500 people descended upon Beardslee
Castle in Little Falls, NY to experience the best of the best. This
is the first festival of spring and this year promises to be the best
one yet. We've added a fourth area for music and have brought out
some of the best talent to rock from 4pm until 2am.

Tickets are available on Groovetickets.com.

Music starts at 4pm, and get there early to stake out a great
camping spot. Food will be served all afternoon and there are several
bars on the premises so, NO OUTSIDE COOLERS OR BOOZE ALLOWED!

Here's this years line-up for EIDOLON. The DJs performing are:

Q-Burns Abstract Message (House-Astralwerks & Eight Dimension)
BillyBob and Depth (House-Massive Audio/Evolve)
Scooby and H-Bomb (Breakbeat-Massive Audio/Vinyl Beat)
Jason Balance and Mikey Parkay (Electrofunk-Massive Audio/
mikeyparkay.com)

Subject: [ne-raves] Upcoming events?

Hello,

I'm from Seattle and will be visiting NYC & Boston April 18-24. I was
curious to know if there were any vibey places to go dance (parties, clubs,
bars), since most of the info on the web is generalized. I prefer
deep/disco/funky house (the slower stuff). I'm not sure how active this
list is anymore, nwraves has quieted down a lot over the years. I swear on
everything that is good in this world that this is not a troll. I've been
going to parties/raves/clubs for about 8 years now and still haven't been to
the eastcoast. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Casey

Good luck with NYC. They jsut went around and shut down a buncha clubs
again. And on top of that dancing is illegal in the city without a
permit. What a place, huh?

There is a nyc list that will be more helpful than me. Send a blank email

well i couldnt possibly imagine why there might be a
beer smell (:P), but i could see how that might
present a problem when pulled over by cops. some
smeels are difficult to remove, as my uncle found out
when a pkg of butter fell out of his groceries and
melted in his car one summer.

does anyone out there remember there being a rave bus
or rave van that either ne-raves or dcraves members
used to operate back in the 90s? i remember reading
about it a couple times- usually in reference to
getting repaired just before a trip... i was just
curious what became of it.

Something to share: The list in Seattle is mostly a bunch of lurkers. It =
has been dormant for what seems like years, with random flare ups and subse=
quent requests for unsubbing, followed by jokes about emails requesting to =
unsub. While I can't really pin that on any one object/event (and at the r=
isk of making blanket statements), it would be foolish to leave out the com=
pleteness of www.nwtekno.org which, while containing much bullshit and prom=
oter/dj pissing contests, remains a fairly accurate portrayal of events tha=
t take place here and the community that surrounds them. The short being t=
hat it seems to have replaced NWR.
=20
I have no idea how lists in other parts of the nation are faring, but it se=
ems as though, NER, NYCR and NWR have been drastically reduced to very litt=
le traffic. In the heyday of any of these lists, (I assume) it would have =
been virtually impossible to merge any two without big trouble. Maybe it w=
ouldn't be such a bad idea to have a link up of all these lists in some way=
or another (please no flames on the logistics...yet), now that everybody s=
eems to be lurking. I'm not really sure what this would accomplish other t=
han a bunch of people lurking together coast to coast. What I do know is th=
at the majority of the people still subbed to NWR have held on to the spiri=
t and values of what it means to listen to electronic music with other folk=
s in a cool environment without money or status driving every action.
=20
I feel like in a lot of ways, I'm hanging on to this hope that something re=
ally cool will happen again. I caught the tail end of a golden age in Seat=
tle raving and I'd like to get back there somehow, but it seems impossible =
with the kinds of legislation and attitudes of local law enforcement. Judgi=
ng by what's been posted (and confirmed by Ralph), it's clear that these pr=
oblems are not exclusive to where we live, so why should the solution be? =
I've noticed there's a lot of great ideas floating around in some great min=
ds, but there also happens to be a lot of disenchanted folks who have would=
n't touch throwing an old style party with a ten foot pole. I have no prop=
osed solution or even claim that my thoughts are righteous by any means, I =
guess I'm just venting and longing for the past.
=20
Perhaps there's nothing to be done but watch things deteriorate, or perhaps=
there's thousands of grassroots efforts toiling for us endlessly that I ha=
ve no concept of. If you think there's something I'm not considering, plea=
se feel free to enlighten me. It is near impossible for me to remain objec=
tive when discussing this subject. To watch things change so much in what =
seems to be a very small amount of time puts a fatty of a bias on my views.=
If you just want somebody to flame, I'd suggest working on your unsub ema=
il instead.
=20
I hope this generates some good conversations on these lists.
=20

free radio.

Gear Question as broad as asking what is the techno song that goes
oontz oonts onntz but well give it a shot anyway.

While I am in the process of rebuilding my studio (all analog mostly)
I recall remember seeing these filter boxes that were colored red and
one was blue. They were 2U rack space and came out I think around 1998
maybe later? They were priced reasonable when they came out, not
expensive like the Sherman filter bank. Anyone have any idea what
units I am talking about? I want to consider them used for the new set
up. But for the life of me I can't recall the maker just what they
looked like.

Well the Black Monolith Crew is working on planning with some others a

I started a 3rd label. Black Monolith Records deals with the core Fear
Records deals with the DnB. But now there is Black Monolith Techno.
This label is geared towards the dark, hard, pounding techno sound. I
am looking for artists. If you have anything that fits this sound
please contact me.

Tickets are available on Groovetickets.com.

http://groovetickets.com/ordersystem/Groove/eventviewqb.asp?
AffilID=93&EventsID=21912&PGname=MASSIVE+AUDIO+%26+EDMS

Music starts at 4pm, and get there early to stake out a great camping
spot. Food will be served all afternoon and there are several bars on
the premises so, NO OUTSIDE COOLERS OR BOOZE ALLOWED!

Here's this years line-up for EIDOLON. The DJs performing are:

Why did I type it with my thumbs? Umm, proof of concept? Heh, nah. I sent
it from my phone. But, err, yeah. Back to Entropy. I went to his website
and he has apparently become a (pardon the pun) raving neo-con. Am I the
only one who finds this slightly disturbing?

Yeah, he's a nut case. Occassionally he'll have something good to say
since he also holds the conservatives less government view. But it's
funny when he talks down about gays. Kettle calling pot what?

Btw, I know this stuff cause he's still on DCRaves even though most people
have him filtered at this point. He trolls constantly and everyone is
sick of it.

KeNNy!

Eidolon 3 is this Saturday !! There might be sprinkles in the
morning, but the weather looks good for the afternoon. Eidolon 3
also made Groovetickets.com Top 25 Events in the Country!

25 DJs, 6 Bands, 10 hours of music in 4 areas, 1 haunted castle.

Tickets are available on Groovetickets.com on MARCH 19th. Music
starts at 4pm, and get there early to stake out a great camping spot.

http://groovetickets.com/ordersystem/Groove/eventviewqb.asp?
AffilID=93&EventsID=21912&PGname=MASSIVE+AUDIO+%26+EDMS

premises so, NO OUTSIDE BOOZE ALLOWED!

the circumstances are that the american border homeland security officers=
=20
suck and so even though these guys were coming down for basically no money=
=20
since this party is free and they were gonna hang out and do tourist=20
stuff, and even tho homeland security called me and i told them that. the=
=20
officers decided to arbitrarily not believe anyone and say they are=20
getting paid. i am pretty annoyed because so far every experience i have=20
had on both sides of the american/canadian border have been really shitty.=
=20
they are always rude and arrogant and there is nothing anyone can do about=
=20
it.

na and mutante are really great dj's and it sucks that they dont have the=
=20
opportunity to play here because of some dickhead at the border who thinks=
=20
he knows the truth even though he doesn't - i guess thats the usa tho -=20
guilty before proven innocent.

i guess the only bright side is that they=20
didnt get sent to gitmo.

believe me I feel your pain. us folks in the psytrance scene get that ALOT!
if the artist has some weird DJ name referencing any sort of substance, or even
looks at an agent wrong...HALT! The paperwork isn't pristine...HALT! A
parking ticket from 20 years ago...HALT!

Because dubya is braindead, we should all just follow his example

has the riaa massively swept through internet stations

i hear a lot of what they are harping about is still
proposals and not law yet- is this true?
some net radio stations are employing a music
repository that contain permitted tracks and i was
wondering if this is likely to be the new practice....
as there are countless net stations will most stations
merely offer a middle finger to the establishment and
continue to cast regardless of what the riaa and

also doesnt this restriction compromise the freedom of
expression as djs are artists, too? if so, isnt that unconstitutional?

well i think painters should paint other works,
sculpters should sculpt, and djs should mix as they
are all artists.
i consider djs collage artists. they construct sonic
collages comprised of audio components they consider
valid to their composition. djs weave stories that can
be enjoyed over a seamless extended period of time
beyond the length a typical song.
but i think this digresses a tad...

Subject: Re: [ne-raves] riaa, limitations, penalties, and broadcasting...

hi scott. i can answer as someone who broadcasts at a FM/internet
station, whus.org

we haven't heard much yet from the RIAA regarding regulating our
operations, but it seems clear to me that they wish to have a very
active hand in helping to shape the regulations of digital radio, a
format which, being digital, will be much easier to monitor and
control.

however, part of being a broadcasting radio station is paying
performance royalties to the RIAA based on the number of hours of each
genre you claim to broadcast. i don't know what they are specifically,
but they've been around a while. i don't know what happens to someone
who doesn't pay these fees, and i wouldn't be surprised to hear the
RIAA claim they're owed -- if they haven't already.

so yeah, the *increased* regulations seem, so far, to be proposals or
at least not finished yet.

some of the radio stations employing 'ok' lists, i would have to
imagine, do so only out of a desire to comply with the law, something
that not everyone can afford to ignore. in addition, 'automated' radio
stations are the norm these days; 90% of commercial stations run on
dedicated song library computers; from an operations standpoint, this
makes producing carts, promos, and commercials a lot easier, and makes
accounting for specific exposures possible. it's not surprising to see
entrepreneurs trying to create a internet media empire while it's
still cheap and freeish; these jagbags clearly are the type to pay
attention to retarded rules and good taste all together by using
preset autosucker playlist machines.

the restriction compromises only the artistic intent of someone who's
averse to broadcasting good music on commercial channels -- but then
again if you've ever played on commercial radio, or gotten paid for a
gig, this is irrelevant.

but yeah, as long as i'm alive, there will be someone to merely offer
a middle finger to the establishment, so i'd have to imagine others
would as well.

p.s. post a mix, n00b
