::::  PALASH BIO ::::

Reading Palash's travel itinerary is like flipping through DJ Magazine's
Best of International Clubbing issue - his destinations are the world's most
elite clubs. In fact, that very magazine accompanied him through Greece and
dedicated a feature to his DJ Travels last summer. Dedicated followers of this
DC-based jock have packed the houses at Pacha in Spain, Israel and Argentina,
Bedrock and Turnmills in London, Homeland, Crobar in Chicago, Twilo, Sound
Factory and the opening party for Avalon in New York City. He rocked the floors
of Asia super-clubs Zouk in Singapore and Womb in Tokyo. Palash enjoyed a
coveted headlining slot at the 2003 end of season, closing night party at Space
in Ibiza.

7 Magazine has proclaimed Palash is "...the most exciting American export
since Deep Dish." But before he played a single record outside of the US,
Palash had already proven his ability to pack dancefloors. While he was getting
his start in DC back in the early '90s, he revitalized one club night after
another with booming tribal house and enthusiastic, thirsty crowds.

Naturally, Palash launched his own vinyl imprint, Addictive Records, to
create a home for his productions and favorite tunes. With a penchant for
percussive, groove-oriented tribal house, the Addictive releases struck a chord with
the world"s best DJs.

As is usually the case, the UK labels acted on the buzz quickly. In 2002,
Palash dropped a mix for Tide Recordings. Following in the well-heeled grooves
of previous DJs in the series Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge and Danny Howells,
Tide:Edit:07 showcased Palash's warm, tribal tech-house.

The creative flames were fueled with remix work for major and indie labels.
Palash's work on the remix of Celeda's "The Underground" succeeded on an
underground and above ground level: it went to #1 on the Billboard chart. John
Digweed gave the nod and hired him for a remix of his own "Voices" for Bedrock.
Then came mixes for Kylie's "In Your Eyes" and Steve Lawler's "Rise In," to
name a few.

After receiving a nomination for the 2003 DanceStar Award for Best
Breakthrough DJ, Palash mixed another CD, Addictive Beats, which found a home on
Grammy Award winner Peter Rauhofer's Star 69 Records. All studio mixes and
productions aside, it is live and in the club where Palash shines. Whether it's a
10-hour marathon set to the never-tiring sweaty crowds of Romania or an
intimate New Year's Eve set at Arc in New York City, Palash has joined the ranks of
the DJ elite through his consummate ability to evoke instinctual, euphoric
responses from crowds around the world.

Subject: [ne-raves] Announcing the New Massive Audio.net

Massive Audio is Proud to Announce
It=E2=80=99s Launch of the Premiere Electronic Music Community.
http://www.massiveaudio.net/
Massive Audio has always been about taking the world of =20
Electronic Music to new places. We have strived to expose the best =20
underground DJs & producers via our live shows like MOJO, WildLife, =20
Foundation (coming soon!), and Eidolon. All of which have been huge =20=

successes and validated our belief that you don't necessarily need =20
world renowned talent to rock the world.

When we decided to open our first record store, we took a =20
completely different approach than most other stores. If you come =20
into Massive Audio in Albany you won't be overwhelmed with hundreds =20
of bins of records, each with ten copies of the same track. We have =20
intentionally kept our quantity low and our quality high. Come into =20
Massive Audio and you're guaranteed to immediately find rare dope =20
tracks by the producers and labels that you love, as well as some =20
you've never heard of.

Which is what brings us to today. Massive Audio.net builds on =20
our basic principals of exposing the underground on a world class =20
basis. Our new website isn't just a record store with a forum, or a =20
glorified calendar with flyers. It is the World's Premiere =20
Electronic Music Community.

* We are one of the world's largest exclusively electronic online =20
record stores. We are proud to be launching today with almost 30,000 =20=

records in our inventory and we expect to almost double that within =20
the next month. Our prices, in most cases, are cheaper than any =20
other site and we'll turn your order around and get it back to you =20
faster than most.

* We have designed Massive Audio.net to be a real online community. =20
You can register for free, build a profile, create a buddy list, =20
search for and find other users based on their profiles and =20
communicate with users from all over the world. We are proud to say =20
that Massive Audio.net has the tools to bring the world of Electronic =20=

Music a little closer together.

* We would like to not have to police content. We will obviously not =20=

allow anything that infringes upon the rights of others, but we're =20
not going to tell you not to put a sexy picture up, ask you to =20
refrain from foul language, or any of that. Communities only work if =20=

there is a fair amount of sharing. Respect others to get respect.

* We are the first Internet record store that allows it's users to =20
leave comments on a record and we thoroughly encourage you to! Pan =20
the bad records, and exalt the classics: this is what community is =20
really all about: The free exchange of opinions and ideas.

There is so much more. We're going to have interviews & DJ =20
charts from the world's leading DJs, exclusive mixset downloads, =20
record & party reviews, and so much more. This site is now as much =20
yours as it is ours, please enjoy it

We are also happy to be offering a GRAND OPENING Discount for =20
the first 2 weeks that we are open for our premiere members. Just =20
enter grandopening in the area for discount codes as you check out. =20
It=E2=80=99s our way of thanking you for joining as we open. You=E2=80=99=
re the =20
reason we did all of this in the first place.

Subject: [ne-raves] ElectroFlute and Shows this weekend:

Hi all,

Just wanted to touch base and let anyone interested know that
www.ElectroFlute.com has some basic info and sound samples...more to come
soon on the development of an electric flute!

I am playing a couple of shows this weekend if anyone wants to come out and
say hi....see details (and an impersonally pasted) announcement below.
Start putting the 3rd Saturday of the month on your calendars for
"Immersions"!

deknow
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I know what they did to Bob Dylan when he came out on stage
with his electric guitar....so get your torches and pitchforks ready!

www.electroflute.com ...is a preview of the work I have been doing
towards producing a turnkey "electric flute" system for all levels of
player. Think "electric flute" like "electric guitar", and you will
get the general idea. I welcome any feedback (other than about my
actual flute playing...I know that my technique is "special").
Things are by no means finished, but I'm very happy with the way
things are sounding so far.

I have been using this as my primary performance instrument for about
a year now, and have the worst problems ironed out. Mostly, I can't
wait to hear what a real flute player will be able to do with this
system. I have 2 performances this weekend if anyone is interested
in hearing the ElectroFlute live. Neither of these will be of
intrest to people looking for "concert flute playing", both are group
improvisations.

Saturday, September 17 at 8pm is the first installment
of "Immersions" in Hyde Park (near Boston).

Sunday, September 18, at 11am (AM!), The Lothars will be performing
at New England Pagan Pride in Andover, Ma.

Details for both shows are below:

-----------------------------------
"Immersions" is a monthly intermedia improvisation series built
around the
core of Doctor T (Video), Dean Stiglitz (ElectroFlute and
Electronics) and
Ramona Herboldsheimer (Hammered Dulcimer and Other Things) with guest
musicians and sometimes dancers or other visual artists.

The first edition of Immersions will include myself and Dean, with
Bob Trottier "The Dinosaur King", on Electro-Percussion, Bob
McCloskey on Saxophone, and Michael Bloom on Guitar and Bass.

Admission is $7.00.

Immersions will happen at 8 PM on the third Saturday of the month,
at Artists at Large, which is at the First Congregational Church, 6
Webster Street at the intersection of Webster and River in Hyde Park.

Phone 617-276-3223.

Directions http://artistsatlargeinc.org/directions.html
-----------------------------------------

Sunday, September 18, 2005. Pagan Pride 2005. Harold Parker State
Forest in North Andover, MA. We go on at 11AM. That's right: AM. The
morning. http://massippp.freeservers.com/.

Sorry about this...I know its not rave reated - but in actuality...you
can say it is. how far do some of you drive to go to parties?!?! How
much gas do you use?

Guys...This is sooo not spam (well, ok, it is) - but its important!!

Tell everyone you know that the gas will be going up $1 by tonight.=20
They said by 12midnight, but it can go up anytime before then.

I heard from 2 different sources...
1. My mother's friend whose gas guy warned him today
2. My boyfriends friend who owns a gas station / mechanic shop in NJ

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but, you have been warned.

 I hope I'm wrong!!

This totally sounds like spam, but I wrote it myself...LOLOL!!

The storm didn't do as much damage as expceted, but I did hear on the radio
(trying to find source) this morning that prices are expected to rise to at
least 3.50 by the end of the week. <sigh> It's never ending. I was so happy
that most places are under $3 now.
When prices are expected to rise like that, I fill up evey day on my way
home, even if it's just a few gallons.

So, does anyone go to raves anymore? Is there anyone even on the list?
Why isn't there any discussions of raves anymore?

I still hit raves up once in awhile but I seldom speak about them on
public forums because I guess I'm paranoid. I don't want to give police
leads on what is going on. Yeah, they probably aren't going to give us
problems but it's still possible. They're always a persistant threat even
if it's random. One party is fine, the next has a swat team showing up so
I figure it's best to keep it quiet since SWAT teams freak me out.

In any case, I hit up some absolutely great raves so far this year. As
far as fun goes, probably the best I've gone to...ever.. Great
people, good music and amazing venues. The decoration and eye candy
weren't the best ever but what can one expect with little to no budget?

So, who else is in the same boat? Great things happening but they just
don't talk about it?

KeNNy!

Of course, I haven't been actively looking as much,

summer. I was wondering why info on parties and
discussion on them hasn't been posted on this list.

Is the Baltimore/DC area really that much better than other areas? I find
that I have more fun at parties when I get away from DC.

You usually get away to Toronto, and you listen to HHC, which doesn't
exist in Baltimore-DC.

Dunno. DC doesn't quite stack up to NYC or Miami or Toronto, but
other than that, is fairly strong. We might have more underground
parties than most; anyone else weigh in on that one?

Once in the last six years or so doesn't =3D usually ;). I just meant in
general when I've been to anything out of the area, which really isn't very
often. I'm not saying the DC area is bad at all though.

That's a good point. I often think of some parties as being dc/balt
parties only because there's dc/balt people involved or there's alot of
dc/balt people in attendance. And dc/balt people are mad fun! right

The Midatlantic region does seem to have a decent rave scene, there's the
undergrounds we get to and I'm almost positive there's more that we don't
know about.

And as far as the other places you listed, they have mainly a strong club
scene but not really the good underground scene. I'd much rather have an
underground scene than a club scene but that's just my opinion.

Subject: [ne-raves] True dat

Yea def underground over a clubby feel, but some clubs are pretty
underground too, like they dont open up every week, and everytime its an
event, (like Therapy i guess). i mean i remeber one of the guys in the line
that was in front of me got bust with weed and coke, and all they did was
take it away from him and let him in, haha. (which makes me wonder what they
do with it later, heh, probably sell it.)

There's stuff that goes on in parts of PA, MD, and VA that I know of.
Probably the best way to find out about what's going on in your area is to
get on an active message board or mailing list and make friends and go to
the more publicized events and you'll eventually start finding out about the
underground stuff.

Subject: Re: [ne-raves] OT: GET GAS NOW!!!! $0.99 HIKE TONIGHT!!!

Yea...it is really funny, considering I did write it myself. And I
would hope that your little sister doen't know my boyfriend.

Thank god that everyone was wrong - I'll tell you tho...I did fill up
my tank & top it off constantly all weekend expecting that big hike.=20
Turns out everyone I spoke to, even the cabbie while I was filling up,
had heard the same thing.

Well - now that its over and its obviously going DOWN (not up)
*yay!!!*, I can relax and not have to worry about going upstate this
weekend and spending $300 on gas alone.

Subject: Re: [ne-raves] RAVERS!

I was just up in Eastern MA (boston) for a month, and
in that span got to see Z-trip, MixMaster Mike, Kid
Koala, Four Tet, and Diz Washington ( a house LEGEND)
in my four weeks there.

not a bad pull if you ask me.

This Month's WildLife featuring Danny The Wildchild!

Danny the Wildchild : Jungle/Drum-n-Bass/Turntablist : Q101 FM/
Strictly Hype/Surge Recordings : Chicago

Danny the Wildchild aka Daniel Garcia was born on the South side
of Chicago in 1977. The brother of a once aspiring DJ, he keenly
watched and quickly learned the tricks of the trade. Danny began
djing at age nine soon surpassing his brother's abilities and
eventually inherited his equipment and records. At twelve, Danny
entered a Chicago area contest for young DJ's and won. He took home
that fifty-dollar prize and was called "The Wildchild" from that day
forward. Although Danny's roots were as a Hip-Hop DJ, he was
eventually introduced into the Chicago Rave scene and to the world of
drum-n-bass. He enjoyed this new form of music, but also loved hip-
hop and began to creatively blend the two genres creating a unique
sound of his own. As Danny's turntable talents grew, he began to
incorporate scratching and DMC style battle tricks into his Drum-n-
Bass sets. His precise mixing skills and unique style and sound gave
him the opportunity to bring Drum-n-Bass into the DMC and Hip-Hop
scenes. Danny's recognition has earned him a collection of praises
from domestic and international magazines such as Mixer, Thousand
Words, Faqt, and Lotus to name just a few. Danny was also featured as
one of the people making waves in the scene in Urb's Next 100 Artists
to Watch Issue. Today Danny has become one of the most valued U.S.
Drum-n-Bass DJ's. His unique blends of jungle and Hip-Hop beats and
amazing scratching and beat juggling have proved to be show stopping.
His talents have brought him to perform in venues worldwide and
opening up for such acts as Eminem, Method Man, The Jungle Brothers,
De La Soul, Moby, Goldie, MixMaster Mike and The Pharcyde. Danny also
toured extensively throughout Europe with DJ Q-bert in 2002 (see
djqbert.com). Although most weekends he is on the road, he still has
time to host the 12midnight slot on Chicago's Alternative Radio
station Q101FM and is gotten back in the studio. In March, the
Wildchild released a follow-up to his 1999 12" release on Bad Boy
Bill's Canvas label. His first effort at mix CD culminated in the
release of "Danny The Wildchild: Booked" (March 2001). The
Wildchild's was the first in a series of "Booked" CD's from Chicago's
Strictly Hype Recordings. This was followed by the successful release
of his latest CD in 2002 on Surge Recordings entitled "Fully Sorted".

Finally, the time has come for The Wildchild known as Danny to grace
us with his unique style in the capital district! This is what jungle
is all about!
