IOWA CITY

different people behind them.

Quad City Rave History
The first rave happened in the beginning of 1993 with Exstasis'
Evaporave. All local DJs (who had never been to a rave) and a very
bewildered crowd (who had never been to a rave). After that,
Exstasis put on around an event every one or two months, mainly with
local DJs. Crowds stayed around the 250-300 mark for a long time.
The first and only bust happened at Overdose in November of 1993.
No arrests or anything. Not a big deal. 1994 was pretty similar
until summer when Exstasis started bringing in more talent from
outside the Quad Cities. Halloween saw 600 ravers and Revolve,
Exstasis 2 year anniversary saw a crowd of nearly 1200 turn out for
a line up which included Mystic Bill and Dmitry. After that, 1995
saw an average of 500 ravers coming out to see the likes of Nigel
Richards, Traxx, Terry Mullan, EFEX, Astroboy, Maddgroove, Mike
Dearborn, DJ Skull, Dave Hollands, and others (including locals
Scottie Miller and Tony Giovanni who have spun at every Quad City
event to date). What will 1996 hold? Only time will tell, although
there needs to be more people involved in throwing parties and DJing.
